Free ad blocker for Windows
Block ads in every app, not just your browser.
AdBolish stops ads, trackers and malware at the DNS level, so they never load in Chrome, Edge, Windows, Office, games or anything else on your PC. It runs on your machine, never records what you browse, and it's free.

What blocking looks like from the inside
The dashboard shows what AdBolish stopped, who was asking and how to let something through. Here it is, running.
What's inside
One switch for the whole PC, and the tools to tune it
Protection runs quietly from the tray. When you want to see what it's doing, or a site needs a hand, everything is one click away.
Why DNS-level
Your browser isn't the only thing showing you ads
A browser extension only sees the browser. Windows, Office, chat apps, games and smart-TV-style apps all phone home too. AdBolish sits where every one of them asks for an address, so one blocker covers them all.
Every app, not just the browser
Windows telemetry, Office, desktop apps and games are filtered the same way your browser is, with nothing to install in each.
Stopped before it loads
A blocked domain gets no address, so the ad, tracker or malware download never reaches your PC to be hidden after the fact.
Your browsing stays yours
Filtering happens on your PC. Allowed lookups are never recorded, and no domain you visit is sent to us.
Transparent funding
How AdBolish stays free
AdBolish shares a slice of your PC’s idle internet bandwidth, when it can, through Massive, our vetted partner. That is what pays for it, instead of a subscription, a “premium” tier or selling what you browse. It relays other people’s ordinary web traffic. It never reads your files, your browsing or what AdBolish blocks.
- Disclosed before anything runsSpelled out at install: you agree to it, or you don't install.
- Never your browsingIt relays other parties' traffic. What you look up stays on your PC.
- Keeps running in the backgroundWith its own tray icon, next to AdBolish's, and a working off switch.
- You can turn it offOne switch in Settings. Blocking pauses while it is off.
Turning sharing off pauses blocking after about two minutes. That is the trade, and the app says so plainly rather than letting you find out. Your internet keeps working, just unfiltered, and turning things off, allowing a site and quitting always work. While sharing is on, nothing is metered or held back. Don’t want to take part at all? Uninstalling ends it completely.

How it works
Protected in three steps
No extension to install per browser, no account to create, no lists to pick.
- 1
Install it
Run the signed installer. It installs for your Windows account and starts blocking with the lists it ships with, no download needed.
- 2
Turn on every-app filtering
At the end of the install, Windows asks once to set up the AdBolish Protection Service. Click Yes, and every program is covered from the moment Windows starts.
- 3
Forget about it
Close the window and it keeps filtering from the tray. Lists update daily on their own. If a site misbehaves, Site broken? fixes it in two clicks.
The fine print, up front
What AdBolish can't do, and what it asks of you
No reviews to show yet, and we won't invent any. Here are the limits instead, so nothing surprises you after you install.
Every-app filtering needs one permission
Routing your PC's DNS is a system setting, so Windows asks once, at install, to set up the protection service. Decline it and AdBolish filters only lookups sent to 127.0.0.1 until you click Set up.
A browser's own secure DNS skips it
A browser set to always use its own secure DNS never asks AdBolish. The app names the browser and the setting to switch off, or does it for Chrome and Edge.
Some ads share a server with the content
DNS blocking works per domain. Ads served from the same address as the page, like YouTube's video ads, can't be split off without blocking the site.
Sharing off means blocking pauses
AdBolish is paid for by sharing idle bandwidth through Massive. Turn sharing off and, after about two minutes, blocking pauses. Your internet keeps working, unfiltered.
Now and then, something breaks
Any blocker eventually catches a domain a site needs. Site broken? shows what was blocked in the last minute so you can allow it, for an hour or for good.
Windows only, this PC only
AdBolish runs on Windows 10 and 11 (64-bit). It filters the PC it is installed on, not your phone or the rest of your network.
