Content & family filters

Because AdBolish filters at the DNS level, one switch keeps a whole kind of site off a PC, in every browser and app at once. SafeSearch and YouTube Restricted Mode sit alongside them.

Windows 10/11 (x64) · Free · No account

Content filters are off unless you turn them on.

A glowing canopy of layered paper arcs sheltering a warm space while sharp fragments bounce off it.

Use cases

When you'll reach for it — Content & family filters

Real situations, not a feature list.

  • Keep social media off a work or study machine.
  • Block gambling sites for yourself or someone you help.
  • Set up a shared family PC so search results stay clean in every browser.
  • Turn on YouTube Restricted Mode in the browser and the YouTube app alike.

What it does

Everything Content & family filters handles

Built into AdBolish, and on by default where it should be.

Social media

Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, X and other social networks, blocked in every app.

Gambling

Betting, casino and lottery sites.

Adult

Pornography and other adult content.

What they blocked

Sites blocked by content filters lists each site with its category, blocks and domains.

SafeSearch

Filters explicit results on Google, Bing and DuckDuckGo for every browser on the PC. In Settings ▸ Protection.

YouTube Restricted Mode

Off, Moderate or Strict, on every browser and the YouTube app. In Settings ▸ Protection.

How it works

Using it, step by step

  1. 1

    Open Content filters

It's in the sidebar's Protection section, and reads Off until you turn a filter on.

  2. 2

Switch on the filters you want

Social media, Gambling or Adult. A list that isn't on your PC yet downloads a moment later.

  3. 3

    Add SafeSearch or YouTube limits

Both are in Settings ▸ Protection.

Under the hood

How it actually works

How the filters are applied.

Content lists
Social media, Gambling, Adult (HaGeZi, GPL-3.0), off by default
SafeSearch
Google, Bing and DuckDuckGo, enforced at the DNS level
YouTube
Off, Moderate or Strict Restricted Mode
Scope
Every browser and app on this PC

These are filters, not parental-control software: anyone who can open AdBolish can change them, and a browser using its own secure DNS skips them. SafeSearch and YouTube Restricted Mode keep working if bandwidth sharing is switched off.
