Privacy

AdBolish works entirely on your PC. Here's what it keeps, what it sends, and how to stop it.

What stays on your PC

  • Allowed lookups are never recorded. AdBolish only counts what it blocks.
  • Counters and charts (blocks per day, per network, per domain, per app) are saved in the data folder so they survive a restart. Settings ▸ Protection ▸ Reset statistics clears them.
  • The Realtime log of recent blocks is held in memory only, and is gone when AdBolish closes.
  • Your exclusions, custom blocks and settings are saved in the data folder.

What it sends

  • Lookups it doesn't block go to your network's DNS, as they would without AdBolish, or encrypted to the provider you chose under Encrypted DNS.
  • Blocklist updates are downloaded once a day. Nothing about your browsing is sent to get them.
  • Anonymous diagnostics, each of which you can turn off in Settings ▸ Privacy & diagnostics: Crash reports, Usage analytics (which features are used, such as turning protection on or off, changing a setting, or using the fix-a-site page (only whether you chose an hour or always); never a domain, URL or rule) and Reinstall / Uninstall analytics.
  • Feedback, only when you send it, with the name and email you choose to add.

Bandwidth sharing

The Massive agent relays other people's traffic through your connection. To run its network, Massive processes some device data (your IP address while sharing, an anonymous device identifier, city-level location, device specifications and bandwidth statistics) under its own privacy policy, as an independent data controller. It doesn't read your files, your browsing, or what AdBolish blocks. AdBolish doesn't filter or record the agent's lookups. See Bandwidth sharing.

The full policy is at adbolish.io/privacy, and in Settings ▸ About ▸ Privacy policy.
